| Adventurists Africa Rally
Scaredy Cats (Do Africa) Hello, you have reached the home page of team Scaredy Cats.

Cara and Nettie, "mature" medical students from Southampton University are attempting the first ever Adventurists Africa Rally. What's this? A fantastic charity fundraising event which involves the little task of driving a car with an engine no larger than 1000cc from Hyde Park, London to Cameroon in West Africa.. What will we encounter a long the way? ..Who knows. Will we make it across the Sahara desert?.. Maybe. Will we be robbed by armed bandits? ..Lets hope not.

We are hoping to raise £1000 for the rally's designated charities Send a Cow and Frank Water.

Please browse around, we hope to keep a full and up-to-date blog just to let the whole little world know how we're getting on.. great I'm sure!

afte some epic drives over some truly horrific "roads" .. muddy potholed flooded and populated with crazy lorry/bus/goat drivers we have made it to the finish line, tara plague hotel situated right on a paraditic beach (paraditic.. i think i just made that word up) palm trees white sand the atlantic, plus fantastic fresh sea food ...just heavenly! and i even got to put on the clean clothes i had been saving from the start. happiness = clean clothes. did i mention heaven?

i would tell you all about how fantastic the celebrations were that evening, but to be honest my memory of them is a little hazy. oh but i do remember the crazy native dancing. i'm also worrying that there may be photo and video evidence of this. i can take the shame.

we have now left kribi and are in douala, manic sweaty exhausting capital city, its a fun but dangerous place (some other teams have had some probs  with muggings) and have managed to organise some (bank crippling) flights home for monday; hmm 5 days to kill... back to the beach me thinks.

oh and our cars are being auctioned for charity tomorrow. the panda has been washed and has returned to its super beautiful shiny and incredibly colourful state. ( for the last 5 weeks it had been becoming a progressively even shade of mud brown). our panda has been valued at 300 pounds... which is really amazing seeing as we only bought it for 100. Really hope it sells at a decent price tomorrow as it would be great to get some good charity money out of it, fingers crossed!

when i get home i promise i'll finish the gaps in the story and upload some of the best pics, but right now there is a zebra drinking my beer....[Read More]
